When might polar bears disappear? 

                                                                                                                                                                  

                 It is so sad to think that humans are causing all of these problems for other animals and creatures. Global Warming has been an issue ever since we started developing and industrializing. Sure these factories and electronics and cars and such make everything a lot easier in our lives, and I am not going to deny that. But we should find a way to use all of these things and make our lives easier without causing global warming. I mean we are taking away animals habitats to make our lives easier, but we are just making it harder for those animals to live and survive.

               Not only that, but these greenhouse gases are destroying our ozone. I love that there are people, scientists, which are working on cleaner energy sources, because if we did not have anyone doing that, then in time, there would be no doubt that we will be killing not only other animal’s habitats, but our own.

                This clearly relates to science because of global warming, but it is also social studies related because of global warming melting the colder areas, it could disappear and we would lose a continent.

   Why Butterflies wings change during seasons

This to me is very interesting because I never knew that they did this! This is such a cool way to survive and such a cool way to camouflage. To be able to change the patterns on the wings of a butterfly is absolutely amazing and a very strategic way to survive if you ask me. I have butterfly bushes at my house, one in the front yard and one in the back, so whenever they are in bloom there are butterflies every where

                They have always interested me with how many varieties there are, how delicate their wings must be, how they were all caterpillars at one time, and I even read an article one time about this one type of butterfly that would die if it ever stopped flying and now this! It just goes to show how much interesting things there are just in your own backyard that usually gets overlooked. They change so they wont be prey or they can trick their predators.

                 This clearly relates to science but not so clearly also relates to social studies because of how much butterflies have changed and adapted from different times, even if it was just one season.

Police Officer Saves 100 Baby Sea Turtles From Certain Death

Sea Turtles have recently been in danger more than ever before, and not because of natural causes, because of us, humans. They have been choking on plastic bags, mistaking them for jelly fish, which is a snack they enjoy. Those plastic bags don’t just show up randomly though, we put them there. Another way is baby sea turtles when they first hatch. Naturally only 1 in 1000 live till adult hood, but that is natural, and normally when they first hatch and try to go towards the ocean, they don’t always make it because of other animals.

            But sadly, they don’t go towards the ocean because of the salty sea smell, they go towards the brightest light they see, which should be the moon, and that is how they make it to the sea. But sadly, now that humans have started making resorts along the oceans, it’s not only the moon lighting they see, its artificial light from the buildings and streets, which is brighter than the moon causing them to go that way, away from the sea. Which, I don’t know about you, but that is awful that creatures are dying because of this.

            But they got lucky in this case, and I think that we need more people like this in the world, a police man was on patrol and saw these tiny creatures crawling towards a hotel, away from the ocean. I think that I would have had the same reaction he did, because he grabbed a cardboard box, and grabbed all the little turtles he could find and released them into the Gulf of Mexico, away from the streets. He saved their lives and this makes me happy to know that there are still people like this out there.

            This obviously relates to science, because of them moving towards the lights, but it also relates to geography because of the hotels and cities, showing human development.

                                            Deadly Poison Threat to Tigers

  

                      Poachers are stepping up their game to get a hold of these beautiful creatures for their skin and other valuable parts on the market. They have recently been targeting beautiful creatures at wildlife preserves and that has been keeping patrol on their feet. I am glad that patrol is kicking up their games because ever since I was little I have always loved Tigers and seeing what is happening to them is disappointing. Are there really people in this world that have the indecency to do this?

Then, to make it even worse they aren't even shooting them, they are poisoning them. Poachers have been setting up traps that have poisoned meat and once they eat it they are as good as dead. According to this article, the meat they are using was from an elephant that they killed for bait for these tigers. So now, not only are tigers being killed, but an elephant was killed for bait, and then on top of that, several other animals in this wildlife preserve had eaten the meat and they too died.

Only two of these poachers have been caught and they have been thrown in jail, but sadly this does not stop the others and they are still out there. This topic clearly relates to science because of the poisoned meat and the dying animals, but not so clearly it is also related to math. It is related to math because the patrol had to figure out how many tigers are dying and how many are being targeted at once. Seeing how indecent people are to other living things makes me ache inside, what about you?

Niagara Falls - Beyond the Kitsch

Niagara Falls - Beyond the Kitsch

            This is a very informational article that honestly gives me the urge to go and visit the falls. It tells you all of the different things that you can do with them, you will hear its rushing waters before you see the beautiful waters. The river that feeds the falls has a beautiful green to it due to dissolved minerals and limestone that get swept over them.  It is so amazing that you can also stand behind the falls themselves after going into an elevator to get there. You will see plaques of the people and how it came to be that you could stand behind them and how it works. You can also go onto the Lower Observation Deck and view the beautiful waters from below. It is an amazing place to visit that has always been an attraction and desire to see to anyone who loves to travel.
       To me this is just a beautiful sight to see and I have always wanted to go and travel the world to see what it has to offer. All of these places, man made or natural, ruins or new, all of these things just give me the urge to go. Staying in one place has never been something I have been keen on doing. Ever since I was little we have never really stayed in one place for more than two years, that is until we moved to Georgia. And even since then we have travelled around the states, mostly due to that I have family spread around.
  Even if you are not a big traveler, maybe you are into science and then it would still be an exquisite place to visit. Just think of how it was formed through weathering and erosion, just think about how old it is and what you could find in the soils or rocks or waters, or even lurking below the waters. It is a very geographical site to go and visit  because of its natural beauty and even if it is not one of the seven wonders of the world it certainly is a wonder. I would visit any place that I could just for the experience. Where would you visit?
